Summer 2008 Movies

So it’s that time of year again - The Summer movie season when Hollywood brings out the “Blockbusters.” This year there are once again many superhero movies to choose from -Iron Man, The Dark Knight, The Hulk redo - and we get a new Indiana Jones movie, Speed Racer, Sex and the City, a new M. Night film (am I really the only one out there who liked Lady in the Water?), Get Smart, Wall E, Hellboy 2, X Files 2, Pineapple Express and dozens more. Here’s a great link with a bunch of these and their trailers,

Which one are you most looking forward to?

I would normally say Indiana Jones but I just don’t think this is going to be any good (I hope it is though), I mean, Spielberg hasn’t been setting the world on fire lately and don’t get me started on George Lucas ans his “prequels”.

Early screenings of Iron Man have been positive but EVERYONE has said that they give everything away in the trailer. The trailer is really just a 3 minute condensed version of the actual movie - that’s not fun.

Speed Racer? Well, I’ll go see this in IMAX but I think this film will really prove that we need to move away from all the CGI - This looks more like a video game than a movie AND it’s rated PG.

Wanted! You’ve got to be kidding me! This is the first English speaking film that the visionary Russian director of Nightwatch and Daywatch wanted to do. It will probably make a Trillion dollars but I won’t be in line. Watch Nightwatch instead.

The Dark Knight. This is it. The film I most want to see. Every since I saw Memento, I knew that director Christopher Nolan was something special. The Prestige, Batman Begins and even Insomnia. All great films with incredible direction. Batman Begins was AMAZING in IMAX and The Dark Knight is the first live action film to be shot in IMAX. If you see this film in a non-IMAX theater, you will waste your money.

Well those are just my thoughts and opinions. I’ll see everyone at the theater.

This is a hard one. I really

This is a hard one. I really want to see all of these movies. I have to say that I’m probably most looking forward to the Dark Knight too. It just looks amazing. I’m not even a big fan of action movies but this one looks too good to pass up. And Heath Ledger as the Joker gives me chills. His performance should be great.
