Probably not, but they

Probably not, but they should be… pogs would be a great party game, haha!! They actually got banned from my elementary school because we were all so obsessed over them.

Does anyone else watch Saved By The Bell every single morning before work and class like me…..? It’s kind of a favorite ritual in my apartment.

Ninja Turtles sewer pies.

Ninja Turtles sewer pies. They were the most disgustingly named things on earth but they were fruit pies with green custard inside. That, and Pop Up Video on VH1

Zack Morris

I miss being able to wake up on Saturday morning and catch an old episode of Saved By the Bell. It’s very rare that I can turn on the TV nowadays and see Zack and his crew. I wouldn’t even care if it was the college years… give me something!

Saved by the Bell

I watch this classic every morning when I get home from the gym. As a matter of fact, they started showing the College Years episodes this morning. Does anyone remember the original episodes? The ones with Ms. Bliss? It was before Slater, Kelly, and Jesse joined the cast. Absolute classic!!

Vantage Point.new movie

Vantage Point was quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I saw it this past weekend and it was horrible. The movie, starring Dennis Quaid, had so much potential in the box office. It had great concepts, but the movie didn’t have any character development. It was redundant at times and people in the theatre were actaully swearing at the screen during these points. If the producers of this movie make another movie then they need to be reminded of how to captivate an audience 101. I would never see this movie again and it re-affirmed the notion that I would never want to work for the secret service.

The Oscar's last night

Oh, and by the way, I am glad that Ellen Page or whatever her name is didn’t win for best picture for Juno at the Oscar’s last night. She tried being so modest that it actually came off as arrogant on her part. I think that people should be genuinely happy if they are nominated to receive an Oscar. She seemed as if she was far from happy. Also, Owen Wilson looked like he was on some kind of deug when he presented that award. He had no enthusiasm in his voice and looked like his face was a statue. On the otherhand, there were a lot of great parts of the Academy Awards last night. I am pumped that the writers are off strike so now that more episodes of the Office will be on!

neo-pets were pretty out of control in my elementary school.

who used windows 3.1 (or even better, dos)? (side note - yes going to RIT automatically makes you a nerd?)

I am biased...

but the 90’s were perhaps the best period for film and music ever!

Movies…. Pulp Fiction, Seven, The Usual Suspects, Fight Club, The Game, The Crow, Saving Private Ryan, The Silence of the Lambs, Fargo, Shawshank Redemption, Sixth Sense, Toy Story, Terminator 2, The Big Lebowski, Ed Wood, The Matrix (the first one only), LA Confidential, Good Will Hunting, Jurassic Park, Heat, The Lion King, Groundhog Day, Babe, A Few Good Men, 12 Monkeys, etc…. (Memento and Donnie Darko were released in 2000 and 2001)

I could go on and on. These films will live on forever as classics! 20 years from now, we’ll probably see some of these remade - god help us.

Music….. Nirvana anyone - love them or hate them, Nirvana is as important to music as The Beatles, The Stones, Elvis and Miles Davis.

Also, NIN, TOOL, Pearl Jam, REM and come on Vanilla Ice and Snow (just kidding on the last two but I bet you know all the lyrics to “Ice Ice Baby” - I know I do!)

Re-Release of one of the best movies you've never seen!

It was rumored a few months back that one of my favorite films of all time, DARK CITY, would be getting re-released with brand new special FX work added. No other details were revealed and it has been silent since then - until now. The other day writer David Goyer, who is off in Chicago directing THE UNBORN for Rogue Pictures, revealed a few more details on the project that any hardcore fan will appreciate. Read on for the skinny.

While on the set of his upcoming film UNBORN, writer-director David Goyer updated us on the re-release of DARK CITY, which he wrote for Alex Proyas to direct. “It’s coming out fairly soon [and will] probably have limited theatrical, but Im not sure,” he explains, “I have seen almost all of it and I took part in an over hour long making-of.”

In addition to the special features, Goyer reveals that there’s more to the re-release than just special FX upgrades. “[They re-did] the score and the cuts a little longer,” he reveals, “all of the parties involved did fairly lenghtly interviews with us, they’ll be incluced on there.”

He’s also quite sure that there will be a Blu-ray release. Join me in a lengthy scream of happiness. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Released in 1998, Alex Proyas, (The Crow) directs this futuristic thriller about a man waking up to find he is wanted for brutal murders he doesn’t remember. Haunted by mysterious beings who stop time and alter reality, he seeks to unravel the riddle of his identity. William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland and Jennifer Connelley all star, even Melissa George makes a cameo!

Here’s a link to the trailer - check it out - it’s an amazing trailer and an even better film - It was Donnie Darko before Donnie Darko!

A Parent's View of the age

What I remember about the ’90s is Sesame Street, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, Blue’s Clues, BARNEY!!, every animated Disney movie made (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin foremost), many, many Winnie the Pooh animated videos and … lots and lots of diapers!! Glad those days are long gone.

re: Dark City

Wow, what a strange pick to re-release, I always thought this film was kinda passed over by the mainstream despite being fairly widely released, so I wouldn’t expect the demand for a re-release. Anyhow, I definitely think it would be cool to see a new transfer and re-cut of this strange film that I haven’t really seen since it came out.

What other films do you guys think need a decent DVD release? Personally, I think Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” DVD is absolutely terrible (it was basically released at the dawn of DVD and never received another treatment) and definitely deserves a respectable DVD. Any other thoughts?

DVD release!!

The one movie I’ve never been able to find on DVD is 2gether. Who remembers what I’m talking about, the MTV mock-rockumentary, Spinal Tap of the new millennium?? I want to own it soooo bad to relive my high school (middle school?) years. I have some of the songs on my iPod and once in a while they come up on shuffle and then when I get home I go on a wild goose chase online trying to buy the movie. But I don’t think it’s out on video or DVD at all…. and that sucks. So that’s my vote. I’m probably alone in thinking that, but it’s fine.

2gether

The one stupid line I always really liked from that movie (and I have no idea why):

“What do you think we should name our band?”

“How about Matchbook Twenty?”

“Yeah, that’d be awesome!”

“Um… I think that one is taken…”

2gether

I was a 2gether fanatic too Sara! No one ever knows what I’m talking about when I start singing their songs. Do you remember the short lived t.v. show that came out after the movie? Classic!
