Carson has the eye of the tiger
“I lifted a lot, and I think that was the main reason I was so much better this season than last,” Carson said. “I also played in three summer leagues, so I was staying in great playing shape.”
The 6’6” center led his team in minutes with 765. He also averaged 16.1 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. Last season, however, Carson didn’t see as much playing time, and he feels that’s what helped him the most.
“I sat behind our starting center Tim Bacon last season, and I learned a lot from him,” Carson said. “He was a great offensive player which made me better defensively, because I would always have to go up against him in practice, so this year now that he’s gone defense has come a lot easier.”
The Tigers finished over .500 this season for the 17th straight year with a 14-11 record thanks in large part to Carson who finished first on the team in 12 different statistical categories. Carson says a lot of the credit for him and his teammates’ success however goes to his Head Coach Bob McVean.
“The past two years coach has really been pushing me,” Carson said. “Anytime I do something wrong he’s on my case, and I think that’s made me a much better player.”
The most impressive category for the Voorheesville, New York native would have to be Carson’s field goal percentage which was at 62 percent this season.
