Save with your Student Advantage card
It’s hard saving money when you’re a college student. School loans, groceries and dorm necessities – it can be draining on a student’s pocket. Next time you’re thinking of buying something, try using the Student Advantage savings card.
The Student Advantage card offers students several opportunities to save on every day purchases. From school books, TV’s, laptops and software programs, students can save up to hundreds of dollars from select locations.
Students have the option of selecting a card plan. At $20, students can use the card up to a year, and renew it the following year for another $20. For a price of $50, students can have the card for four years, and save $30.
Communications major at St. John Fisher College Colleen Weiler, 21, chose to do a yearly plan for two years. “It was a really sweet deal,” Weiler said.
Check out the Web site at http://www.studentadvantage.com for a complete listing of places students where students can shop and save money. Some of the popular picks are bus services like Greyhound, discounts on a flight and hotel package as well as magazine subscriptions. Students can even save money at Footlocker and Pearle Vision.
Weiler used her Students Advantage card mostly on Greyhound tickets. “I went to school in Staten Island, and took the bus to and from, which was like $120 round-trip,” Weiler said. “With the Student Advantage card it was about $90.”
Aside from Greyhound tickets, Weiler was able to get tickets to the musical Rent.
“It was one of the discounts they offered on the SA website,” Weiler said. “I got really good seats for a discount.”
The discount varies depending on the place you visit and the cost.
At Pearle Vision, the store offers a discount on both frames and glasses. Depending on the price of the frames and glasses, a student can save up to $100 on a purchase more than $300 – or more!
The Student Advantage is good for anyone who shops at the select places. Te site is currently offering a 30-day trial.

Why PAY for Student Discounts?
Submitted on April 18th, 2008 by Antonio CalabreseStudent Advantage has a great site and some pretty good discount offerings - but who in college wants to PAY to receive discounts?
I’ve started University of Student Savings (USS), based in Rochester, NY, which allows you to receive discounts WITHOUT having to purchase anything. The only thing you need is your student ID - that’s it! http://www.UofSS.com. Yes, the site is truly FREE for college students.
We are an extremely new organization, currently with limited discounts. However, in an attempt to grow USS and help the students as much as possible, we’ve started a Referral Program (http://www.UofSS.com/makemoney). With the Referral Program, we’ll pay you $100 for each business you refer over to us and we sign up. We’ve made “dummy” sheets which outline who we are and why businesses should sign up. You can hand this sheet out to businesses with your name (or referrer ID) - if they call and we sell them, we cut you a check for $100 (it really is that simple). This is very ligit and there are no strings.
Please help us grow a local organization. You’ll be able to save at the places you love to use, and make money while doing it - and best of all, you won’t have to PAY for it.
Thanks for reading!

Checked the site out
Submitted on April 18th, 2008 by Vassana PraseutsinhI checked the UofSS site. Currently, it offers some very good things, but for the Rochester area, there’s only four services. The services are selected places. The SA card offers discounts at tons of places, and it gives you discounts on things students will normally spend their money on.
Thank You
Submitted on April 18th, 2008 by Antonio CalabreseThank you for checking out the website. We just launched two months ago - so we are limited in our discount offerings.
However, as we grow, students will have access to more and more offerings - FREE of charge. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for students to make money while in school and not have to do a lot of ‘extra’ work or hold any kind of a work schedule ( through our Referral program at http://www.UofSS.com/makemoney). They can simply hand out our “sales document” to businesses they are going to anyway.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you again for checking out the site.
No prob
Submitted on April 21st, 2008 by Vassana PraseutsinhYour welcome. I’m always on the lookout for a good site to promote. Perhaps, when your site grows, more people will use that instead of having to pay for their discounts. College students aren’t exactly rich, so every bit counts!
Referral Program
Submitted on April 22nd, 2008 by Antonio CalabreseYou’re right, college students aren’t rich. You may want to look into our Referral Program a bit more - aside from the discount offerings.
It truly is a ligit way for college students to make some pretty good money, without having to hold an actual job and follow a work schedule. Basically, if you sign up with our Referral Program (FREE of course) - we’ll pay you $100 for EACH business you refer over to us and we sign up. It’s actually that simple, and we’ll keep paying.
Please look at www.UofSS.com/makemoney if you haven’t already.
Paying
Submitted on April 24th, 2008 by Christa WI really like the idea of a student discount. Anytime I find one, I get so excited. I remember getting the card information mailed to me as an incoming freshman but I didn’t feel like spending $20. Maybe I’ll reconsider. But for now I’ll stick with the discounts I don’t have to pay for.
